Vitamins - Are They Safe?

Are Vitamins Safe?

Vitamins and SupplementsThere is a lot of misinformation on the subject.  Some people tell you not to take supplements because there are plenty of vitamins and minerals in the food you eat.  Many years ago when our soil was rich this might have been the case, but today not only are soils of depleted of nutrients, but we are changing the natural form of many of our foods (processed).

Did you know that organic foods have about 6 times the nutrient density of foods you find in the super market? Be realistic, you are probably not going to everything you need in your food.

How do you know if you are deficient in something?

There are blood laboratory tests on the market that indicate your deficiencies. Some tests actually look at the cell itself, which is even more accurate.  You can also get an organic acid test, which is a urine test that shows what your body is processing.  In the end, most people have a deficiency.  Get some testing, so you are only taking the things you need? These tests are available through a certified clinical nutritionist, naturopathic physician, or compound pharmacist.

To sum it up, get most of your nutrients from food and supplement only your deficiencies.

If you choose not to get testing, start with a good multivitamin mineral, Omega –3, and a probiotic.  You may pass via your urine vitamins and minerals that you do not need, but at least you will not be deficient.
